Terms of use

GuessTheSong (guessthesong.gg) is an online game where you recognize songs from short previews: the daily challenge, matches, ranked games, party rooms with friends and games on your own playlists.

It is a non-commercial hobby project run by an individual living in France. The service is free.

By using GuessTheSong or creating an account, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

• You must be at least 15 years old to create an account, or have a parent's consent if you are younger.
• One account per person.
• Keep your password to yourself: you are responsible for what happens on your account.
• You can play the daily challenge without an account. The other modes require an account with a username.

GuessTheSong should stay a pleasant place for everyone. You must not:

• cheat: helper tools, bots, scripts, automation, exploiting bugs or any way of getting the answers other than listening;
• use several accounts, or team up with other players, to skew the leaderboards;
• choose a username or avatar that is insulting, hateful, sexual, violent or impersonates someone;
• insult, harass or threaten other players, or post hateful or discriminatory content, in text chat or in voice;
• spam, post illegal content or record other players without their consent;
• attack the service: overload the servers, bypass limits or protections, or scrape data at scale.

You can report or block a player at any time. Reports are reviewed by moderators, who can, depending on how serious the case is:

• give a warning;
• replace your username with a neutral one;
• remove your avatar;
• suspend your account temporarily (for example 24 hours or 7 days) or permanently.

Sanctions stay proportionate. If you think a decision is unfair, write to [email protected] to contest it.

You can import public Deezer, Spotify or YouTube playlists to play with. You are responsible for the playlists you import and their titles. We only keep the playlist link, its title, its cover and the matching tracks from our catalogue. We may remove a playlist that breaks these terms.

Music clips are short previews (30 seconds at most) provided by Deezer and used only for the game. Tracks, covers and artist names belong to their rights holders. You may not download, copy or reuse these previews outside the game.

GuessTheSong is not affiliated with or endorsed by Deezer, Spotify, YouTube or Google.

The GuessTheSong name, logo and site design belong to its operator.

GuessTheSong is provided "as is", without any warranty. The game may contain bugs, be unavailable, change, have its leaderboards reset every season, or stop at any time. We try to announce important changes in advance, but we cannot guarantee it.

To the extent permitted by French law, the operator is not liable for indirect damages, loss of data or progress, service interruptions, or content posted by other players.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, for example in the case of gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

You can stop using GuessTheSong whenever you like and ask for your account to be deleted at [email protected]. We may suspend or close an account that does not follow these terms.

How we use your data is explained in our privacy policy.

We may change these terms as the service evolves. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If there is an important change, we will let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by French law. If there is a disagreement, please write to us first so we can find a friendly solution. Failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the consumer protection rules that apply to you.
